What makes the perfect concrete install?
Siteworks
Any site needs to have the ground prepared before we lay concrete, even for simple installations like pathways. It’s a process of clearing the site and compacting the subgrade. This process is essential for durable, long lasting concrete foundations.
Forming or boxing
We commonly use wood to create a form into which we pour the concrete. These are precise structures which can be easily removed once the concrete has set.
The pour
We pour the concrete into our forms until it reaches the top, using special concrete rakes to make sure it doesn’t have air pockets or voids which would compromise its integrity.
Finishing the surface
Using various tools, we screed the top of the concrete to help it compact and consolidate as a slab. Then we use floats to create smooth surfaces or brooms to create rough surfaces.
Curing
Curing is the process where the concrete hardens. It lasts up to 28 days, but in most cases the slab can sustain foot traffic in a few days for any other work to proceed.
